As well as being a great way to practice non-attachment and being non-reactive, open awareness meditation has a particular effect on your brain that supports creative thinking and problem solving.

We could talk a whole lot more about your brain's default mode network, how it can lead to you being so self-critical and focused on your problems and how meditation basically neutralises that activity, but that will have to be a topic for another day.
